McKinley Woods Attack: Channahon Woman Just Filed For Divorce
Will County's prosecutors filed six charges against Sebastian Sternisha, Heather Lloyd and her brother Michael Lloyd following the attack.

CHANNAHON, IL — The 32-year-old Channahon woman who Will County Forest Preserve Police say orchestrated an attack upon her estranged husband last Thursday afternoon at McKinley Woods had just filed for divorce against him on April 3, Will County court files show.
The divorce petition indicates that Heather Lloyd's 42-year-old husband has just moved to New Lenox after residing in Las Vegas, Nevada. Lloyd's filing has asked that a Will County judge grant child support for her 3-year-old daughter — who was also present last Thursday when Lloyd's husband pulled into the parking lot at McKinley Woods to do a child custody exchange, according to Forest Preserve Deputy Police Chief David Barrios.
Lloyd has also asked the judge to let her keep all of their non-marital property and that there be a fair division of the marital property and any debts obtained during the marriage. Lloyd lives in the 25400 block of South Blackberry Lane, which is in Channahon.

Lloyd indicated that they were married in Will County on Aug. 19, 2018 and have been separated since October 2022. "Yes, we can't stay married due to mental abuse," Lloyd wrote in her divorce filing.
On Monday, Joliet Patch reported that at least seven or eight police officers from the Will County Forest Preserve Police Department and the Channahon Police Department were called to McKinley Woods at 25055 West Walnut Street shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday.

They arrested Sebastian Sternisha, 28, of Joliet's 200 block of 2nd Avenue, plus brother and sister Heather Lloyd, 32, and Michael Lloyd, 30, of 25400 block of South Blackberry Lane.
The Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow has filed six charges against Sternisha, Heather Lloyd and Michael Lloyd: five counts of aggravated battery and one count of mob action.
Heather Lloyd spent more than 24 hours in the Will County Jail before posting 10 percent of her $5,000 bail early Saturday morning. Since her release from custody. Heather Lloyd filed yet another order of protection against her estranged husband.

Heather Lloyd cited the events surrounding the arrest of herself, her brother and Sebastian Sternisha to justify her petition seeking the emergency protection order against her husband, who was taken to an area hospital after being struck numerous times with a metal pipe and an aluminum baseball bat on April 13 after being jumped in the parking lot. The victim had his own wooden baseball inside his car that he grabbed and used to deflect several of the blows, according to Barrios.
"I am requesting an order of protection against my husband due to verbal abuse via text, harassment, stalking and physical abuse towards me. I am requesting for (name redacted by Patch to protect victim's identity) to stay away from me and my property at all times and not to contact me."
Will County Judge Domenica Osterberger rejected Heather Lloyd's petition. The judge checked the box indicating "that for the emergency relief sought, there is no immediate and present danger of abuse and therefore prior notice is required."
At her bond hearing before a different Will County judge last Friday, Lloyd was ordered to have no contact whatsoever with her estranged husband, his New Lenox address, and she must stay away from her own 3-year-old daughter.
Police told Patch that the child was taken into protective order following the bat and metal pipe attack at McKinley Woods last Thursday.

Regarding Lloyd's latest order of protection order, Judge Osterberger scheduled another court hearing on the matter for 9 a.m. on May 8 in Courtroom 705.
Heather Lloyd also filed two previous order of protection petitions at the courthouse, last October and this past March, and both were rejected by Will County's judges. For March 22, Heather Lloyd wrote that her estranged husband "sent me texts, messages and phone calls today, so far there has been 64 and counting and voice recording via text. This is ongoing for months.
"When I asked him to return my daughter and for custody, his replay was 'Not if you kill yourself first don't wait. He also said that he flushed my mom down the toilet, meaning her ashes."
Heather Lloyd wrote that her husband "has a history of threatening my life. He said to me, 'You better run and hide if you see me because I'll bring you in the desert.'"
