“Overall we had a rough season with a short period of time to prepare,” Head Coach Chris Meza said, “but our wrestlers put their hard work and dedication into this sport and made it this far. We as a coaching staff are very proud of them.”

Troy Athletic and Activities Director Meagan DeGroot said the amazing outcome was especially sweet coming after two years of the team not competing at state due to Covid-19 restrictions.

“It was nice to see a packed stadium at NIU,” DeGroot said, “and feel the excitement from the athletes and coaches.”
