
West Aurora High School might think twice about inviting Minooka back to its girls' volleyball invitational next year.
The Indians ripped through pool play and won twice in straight sets in the Gold Division to win the championship Saturday in Aurora.
Minooka (6-2) went 5-0 at the tournament.

“The girls played very well today,” Minooka coach Chris Hoelscher said. “We were able to run our offense because of good serve receive and a scrappy, but controlled defense.”
Haley Bowden’s 28 digs and Stacey Perniar’s 19 digs and five blocks throughout the tournament led the Indians’ defense. Perinar also led the offense, as well, by totaling a team-best 45 kills in five games.

In the championship game, Minooka beat Sycamore 25-22, 25-18. It beat the host Blackhawks 26-24, 25-17 to advance to the final.
During pool play, Minooka beat Glenbard South (25-17, 25-17), Plainfield East (25-7, 25-21) and Streamwood (25-11, 25-17).
Bri Marquez came up with team-highs of 95 assists and eight aces. Skylar Day posted 26 kills for Minooka.
Tessa Griparis added 14 kills, two blocks and a pair of aces; Jessica Karalow was credited with 10 kills; Brittany Furjanic had 12 digs and four aces; and AnnMarie Bachmann chipped in seven kills, three blocks and five digs.
