Minooka HS District 101 Gets New Superintendent

Dr. Kenneth Lee will begin his new position July 1.

Minooka Community High School District 101 has a new superintendent.

The district board of education approved the hire of Dr. Kenneth Lee at its Thursday meeting. He will begin July 1 and succeed Dr. James Blanch, who served as the district’s interim superintendent for the past two years.

“We were looking for a superintendent who is a good leader and who has good communication skills,” MCHS District 111 Board President Mike Brozovich said in a release from the district. “Dr. Lee fits that bill very well.”

Lee comes to MCHS after spending six years as the superintendent of Iroquois County Community Unit School District 9, according to the release. Prior to his tenure in District 9, Lee spent eleven years in McLean County Unit District 5, during which he served as a business teacher, assistant principal, associate principal, and principal.

Lee indicated several factors attracted him to MCHS.

“I first looked into the position because I felt the size of the district would allow me the opportunity to focus on my leadership skills and work with a team,” Lee said in the release. “I was also very well aware of the reputation MCHS has for its many offerings inside and out of the classroom, as well as its reputation for academic excellence.”

Over the coming weeks, MCHS will work with Dr. Lee to develop an induction plan to help him become acclimated to the district and spend time with the district’s leadership team, staff, students, and community members prior to his official start date in July, the release said.

“I firmly believe that most of what we do is about relationships,” Lee said. “I am looking forward to begin building relationships with students and all of the stakeholders in the MCHS community. I am an outgoing person who enjoys meeting new people, getting to know their interests, and working together toward a common goal.”
