MINOOKA, IL — On Tuesday night, the village board for Minooka voted against allowing recreational marijuana sales in Minooka, WSPY reported. A number of communities near Minooka have gone the other direction and approved recreational marijuana sales.

Morris passed an ordinance in September. The city of Joliet also was receptive to marijuana businesses setting up shop in Joliet. Also this month, the village of Manhattan voted to allow for sales of recreational cannabis.

Besides Minooka, Plainfield and New Lenox are some of the area communities who have chosen to turn down the chance to generate sales tax revenue from recreational marijuana sales.
