Minooka River Cats Coach Arrested For Embezzlement

Minooka Police Chief Justin Meyer issued a statement about the crime Thursday.

MINOOKA, IL — Former Minooka River Cats youth baseball coach and league treasurer Jeffery Pfeiffer was taken into custody and got his police mugshot taken on Thursday, courtesy of the Minooka Police Department. He's accused of embezzling several thousand dollars from the youth baseball league's coffers over the past few years. Pfeiffer stole between $5,000 and $10,000 from the Minooka Baseball and Softball Association, according to a press release issued by Minooka Chief of Police Justin Meyer.

"This is an unfortunate incident as Mr. Pfeiffer broke the trust that was given to him for his own personal gain," the police chief's press release declared. "I feel bad for the families, sponsors and the association who put the time and effort to raise money to support the young athletes in the community."

The Minooka Police statement indicated that two years ago, in 2016, the Minooka baseball league's current president and treasurer found financial discrepancies during an internal audit. In turn, the matter was turned over to Minooka Police to investigate further.
