Money Stolen At Channahon United Methodist Preschool: Complaint

Channahon police determined that several thousand dollars was stolen from Channahon United Methodist Preschool since 2016.

CHANNAHON, IL —A 38-year-old Minooka woman faces three felony charges in connection with allegations that she stole several thousand dollars from Channahon United Methodist Preschool during a four-year period.

Kelly C. Shaeffer, who lives on McCoy Court, is accused of taking more than $10,000 but less than $100,000 cash from the Channahon United Methodist Preschool at 24751 W. Eames St., according to Thursday's criminal complaint.

Shaeffer is accused of stealing money from the Channahon preschool between January 1, 2016, and Feb. 29, 2020, according Channahon Police Detective Andrew McClellan's complaint.

The Minooka woman had not been taken into the custody of the Will County Jail as of 2 p.m. Friday. On Thursday, Will County Judge Ed Burmila issued a bench warrant for her arrest. Burmila set her bail at $15,000.

Patch has left voicemail messages with the Channahon Police Department and the Channahon United Methodist Preschool seeking additional details about the case.

According to the school's website, Channahon United Methodist Preschool has served families in the Minooka area for more than 40 years.
