Morris Man, 37, Dies In Pickup Truck Wreck Near Route 6

The crash scene was discovered by another motorist around 1:30 a.m. on Monday, according to Grundy County's Coroner's Office.

MORRIS, IL — A 37-year-old Morris resident was killed after losing control of his pickup truck near U.S. Route 6 and Saratoga Road.

Grundy County Coroner John Callahan, along with Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, are investigating the wreck that claimed the life of George Cox.

According to the coroner, the fatal crash was discovered by another motorist traveling on Saratoga Road south of Route 6 around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

The preliminary investigation indicates Cox was driving his pickup southbound on Saratoga Road when he lost control of the truck about a quarter-mile south of Nettle Creek Drive.

The truck rolled onto its top, and Cox was ejected and pinned beneath the vehicle. Cox was pronounced dead at the scene around 2:25 a.m.

Morris Fire and EMS assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the Grundy County Coroner’s Office and the Sheriff’s Department, Callahan stated.
