Motorcycle Ride Planned in Memory of Minooka Man Killed in 2012 Plainfield Crash

Joliet, IL — A motorcycle ride will help honor the life of a Minooka man who was killed by a drugged driver in Plainfield.

When Ron Oswald was killed on a July afternoon in 2012, he left behind eight children, 14 grandchildren and countless friends through his memberships in the Warriors Watch Riders, Patriot Guard Riders and Will County ABATE, according to a September 2014 Patch article. He was 57 years old.

Riders for the “Justice for Ron Oswald” event will meet at 10:30 a.m. July 17 at Double J Sports Bar, located at 1001 Essington Road in Joliet. They will leave the bar at 11:30 a.m. and go pass the cemetery where he’s buried and the crash site, according to The Herald-News.

The ride will end at the Tap House, located at 24402 Lockport St. in Plainfield. Afterward, attendees are invited to the Pat Clark Memorial Benefit, which starts at 1 p.m. at the Abstract American Bar and Grill, located at 20631 W. Renwick Rd. in Crest Hill.

“(This) event was one of (Ron’s) favorite. (He) never missed it,” the Facebook page said.

The event is meant to not only honor the life of a beloved man, but to show that the sentence the driver received was too lenient.
