National Library Week: Feed Your Fines

As they do every year, the Three Rivers Public Library is accepting food donations in lieu of library fines during National Library Week: April 8 to April 14.

Did you forget to return a book on time? Did you put it on the front seat of your car so you would remember and it slid under the seat and disappeared from memory?

Not to worry. This week, you not only get a pass on that fine, but you get to help someone else as well. Food for fines is a program at where patrons can bring in boxed or canned food and have fines waived. One fine is waived for each donation and the amount is capped at $5. More information can be found by going to the Three Rivers Public Library Web site and clicking on the food for fines link.

Are you a responsible person who is never late with library books? Or did you already pay your fines? That's no excuse. Food donations earn a coupon towards future fines for those of you without any on your account. And, you could choose to just make a donation to help someone else. The food donations go to local food pantries, which have seen a rise in those needing assistance. This is a great way to help your neighbor.
