A small fire that broke out in downtown Minooka was quickly extinguished early Friday morning.
Minooka Fire Protection District Deputy Chief Brad Sprague said the call for the fire came in at around 6:45 a.m.
“There wasn’t much of a fire in the building,” Sprague said. “It was just on the outside. It started next to a vent pipe and burnt some material on the porch.”

The building, located at 115 W. Mondamin St., holds a laundromat on the first floor with a single-unit apartment above it, Sprague said. The fire occurred in between the two floors near the vent pipe.
Sprague said crews were on the scene for about an hour.

“There was nothing inside the structure. We initially thought it was, but it was just a material next to the building right there around the vent pipe,” Sprague said.
No major damage occurred and there were no injuries.
