Frank Delgado, age 94, of Plainfield, Illinois, and formerly of Decatur, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2026, at Ciel Senior Living of Plainfield, surrounded by the love of his family.

Frank was born on November 15, 1931, in Chicago, to Guadalupe and Pauline (nee Rendon) Delgado.Frank was a loving, dedicated father, grandfather, uncle, friend and proud veteran. He had a heart of gold and a generous spirit that extended well beyond his family.
Frank proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and National Guard. He took great pride in his work as a Tele-Communications System Control Technician, and volunteered for duty in the Korean War. He was stationed in many places including the Philippines, Tokyo, and Spain.Frank received the Good Conduct Medal with Bronze Clasp, the Air Force Longevity Service Award, and numerous other commendations, retiring with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3.

His commitment, sacrifice and love for his family were second to none. His humor, great attitude, and jokes were a part of his good nature. When asked, “How are you doing?” he would say, “If I were any better, I couldn't stand it!” His tender heart toward God and His word always touched our hearts. He will be deeply missed by his family and by those who knew him. He will live on with us through all the wonderful memories we were blessed to have.
Frank was a devoted father to Dawn (Gary) Damiani, Donna (Mike) Bowers, and Darlene (Rob) Kramp. He was a cherished grandfather to Andrew Damiani, Janah (Adam) Giganti (nee Damiani), Marcy (Mike) Cosgrove (nee Melvin), Kyle (Hailey) Thomas, Carl R. Kramp, and Allison Kramp.He was a loving brother to Sam Delgado.
Frank’s family continued to grow, and he was blessed to become a great-grandfather to Michael (Adriana) Piotrowski, Sonny Ducato, Isaac Thomas, and Simon Thomas, and a great-great-grandfather to Eliasz Piotrowski and Luka Piotrowski. Frank also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe and Pauline (nee Rendon) Delgado; his sisters, Genevieve (Raul) Gutierrez and Carol (Ernest) Garcia; and his brothers, Paul (Imelda) Aguirre and John (Cecilia) Delgado.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Frank’s name to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ) or Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
Visitation for Frank Delgado will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet, Illinois. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m.
Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, where full military honors will be presented.
