Parent Charged After Child Threatens Minooka Intermediate School: Cops

Minooka police arrested the parent and removed several unsecured guns from their home on Menominee Street, authorities said.

MINOOKA, IL — A parent was arrested and charged after their child threatened students at Minooka Intermediate School, police said Friday.

During an investigation into the incident, Minooka police said officers conducted a follow-up visit with the student accused of making the threat and their parent. Authorities did not provide details on the nature of the threat.

During the visit, police said the parent refused to cooperate, so authorities obtained a warrant to search the home located in the 200 block of Menominee Street.

During the search, police said officers determined the threat was not viable. They also found several unsecured guns and removed them from the home.

The parent, whom police did not identify, was taken into custody for a violation of the Firearms Child Protection Act.

The student was also arrested and later released for felony disorderly conduct, police said.
