Pedestrian Killed In Kendall County Car Crash: Coroner

A man was walking in a lane of traffic when he was hit by a car early Wednesday morning in unincorporated Kendall County, officials said.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — A pedestrian died Wednesday after being fatally struck by a car in Seward Township, officials said.

The crash happened at about 4:38 a.m. Wednesday on Route 52 east of McKanna Road, an intersection located in unincorporated Kendall County. The Kendall County Coroner's Office pronounced the man dead on the scene, according to a news release.

A car was driving westbound on Route 52 when it crashed into the male pedestrian, who was walking in a lane of traffic, according to Illinois State Police spokesperson Jayme Bufford. Officials said the car was unable to avoid the man.

The coroner has not yet released the identity of the pedestrian pending notification of his next of kin. A forensic autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

All lanes of Route 52 were shut down during an investigation and reopened at 8:15 a.m.
