Person With Deadly Weapon Visits Channahon Neighborhood

Channahon's Police Department issued a statement on Sunday night emphasizing how there is no immediate threat to the community.

CHANNAHON, IL — A person with a dangerous weapon was visiting a Channahon neighborhood over the weekend, and discussion of that incident on social media platforms prompted the Channahon Police Department to issue a statement hoping to alleviate everyone's fears.

On Sunday evening, Channahon police announced that a criminal investigation was opened on Saturday night regarding reports of a person with a weapon in the Hunter’s Crossing neighborhood.

"Doorbell video of the person has been heavily circulated through social media. There is no immediate threat to the community," Channahon police stressed.

Officers conducting the initial investigation on Saturday night made significant progress in identifying the person from the video, officials said. Detectives are following up on that information. As the investigation continues, police are asking anyone with additional video or information to contact the Channahon Police at 815-467-2112.
