Pogliano Pork Wagon is family-owned, affordable and just plain fun.
The Pogliano Pork Wagon doesn't stand still - well not for more than a few days. I was able have lunch last week after reader Tara Snyder-Cload suggested I stop by. I owe her a sandwich and I have a suspicion no matter which one she choses, she won't go wrong.
I choose the first sandwich the Pogliano family made in the stand - the Poorboy. Filled with garlicy goodness, this is a huge sandwich. The Milano bread is covered in garlic butter and the pork is flavored with it as well.
"The poorboy is a sandwich we always had at home," owner Robert Pogliano said.

He owns and operates the stand with his wife Linda and sons Robert and Dan.
The wagon was built for the family, who eventually added a couple other sandwiches to the mix. But, they always came up with their own flavor.

"These are our own recipes, our own sandwiches and we totally enjoy the people that we meet," Pogliano said.
As you know, I could not eat the bread on the poorboy I ordered, so my son who loves garlic bread got that as a treat. The pork was good enough to eat alone. I know it was because I ate it alone.
My other son was with me as well. A big fan of barbeque, he wanted the pulled pork sandwich. I figured this would be a good way for me to tell you how good two things were. No such luck. By the time I turned around to try it, it was gone. He loved it.
In addition to the poorboy and pulled pork sandwich, they have a ground pork sandwich, which is like a Sloppy Joes and an Italian sandwich, which has an au jus sauce.
The great food alone would be enough to bring me back, but the pork wagon offers lemon shake-ups too. Like a funnel cake or an elephant ear, lemon shake-ups taste like a summer festival.
The Pogliano Pork Wagon will not be back in Minooka until Aug. 25. But, they will be in neighboring communities. On July 23, the wagon will be at Catfish Days in Wilmington from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sept. 7 to 11, they will be at the Sandwich Fair. And, of course, at the end of September, they will be at the Morris Cornfest. Want to know more? The Pogliano Pork Wagon has a Facebook.
