Ron And Kelly Dube: Three Rivers Festival Benefit Set Up

CHANNAHON, IL — Event organizers reached out to Patch in hopes of letting everyone know there will be a Three Rivers Fest Car Cruise-In, and the Sunday, Aug. 13 event is a fund-raiser for the children of Ron and Kelly Dube, the husband and wife who were killed by a wrong way driver on Interstate 55 near Wilmington on the night of June 27.

"This event was set up to help with any expenses that need to be addressed; whether additional medical treatment for the children or any living expenses accrued by family in order to help with the situation in any way that they need."

According to co-chairmen Mike Rittof and Bradley Gossen, the Car Cruise-In is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and registration starts at 8 a.m. Cost is $20 per car. The Car-Cruise In will take place on the Three Rivers festival grounds at 24856 West Eames Street in Channahon.

Last week, the Illinois State Police announced the arrest of 33-year-old Wilmington resident Michael Trinka in connection with the June 27 deaths of Ron and Kelly Dube along the southbound stretch of Interstate 55 near Wilmington.

Trinka, who comes from the 100 block of Tully Road, is now being held in the Will County Jail on a $3 million bail, and he faces a dozen felony charges of aggravated driving under the influence from the Will County State's Attorney's Office.
