Sex Assault Defendant's Bail Set At $2.5 Million
Braidwood's Police Department arrested Nelson List, 67, last Wednesday. He remains in custody with a $2.5 million bail.

BRAIDWOOD, IL — A 67-year-old Braidwood man is now in the Will County Jail facing predatory criminal sexual assault of a child charges in connection with last week's arrest by Braidwood police detectives.
Nelson List, who comes from the 400 block of South Division Street, now faces two felony charges and his bail was set at $2.5 million, meaning List needs to post $250,000 cash to regain his freedom while awaiting trial.
A number of Joliet murder defendants have had their bail set between $1 million and $2 million.

According to his criminal complaint, List committed the act of sexual penetration against a child who was under 13 years old during the time period of Jan. 4, 2014 and Jan. 3, 2018. The second charge accuses List of sexually touching the child during the same time frame.
The conditions of his bond set forth by a Will County judge state that if List goes free, the Braidwood man will have no contact with the victim and anyone under 18 years old.

List's next court hearing is set for Dec. 8 in Courtroom 405 of Will County Judge Dave Carlson.
