Spring Into Sports: Where To Sign Up And Play In Minooka And Channahon

Local leagues and programs across Minooka and Channahon are offering opportunities for all ages to get out and play this season.

With warmer days ahead, it’s a great time to get outside and stay active. Around Minooka and Channahon, many local leagues and programs are opening registration for the season. To help you get started, we’ve gathered a few resources where you can find more details and sign up — consider this a starting point as you explore what’s available in the community.


Youth Sports

Families in Channahon and Minooka have several options when it comes to youth sports leagues and programs throughout the year.

The Minooka Baseball & Softball Association (MBSA) is a recreational, volunteer baseball and softball association in Minooka. "We welcome players from Shorewood, Joliet, and Channahon and other surrounding communities. It is the goal of the MBSA League to provide each player who participates in baseball or softball with the opportunity to learn and excel. We look to partner with our community in offering an enjoyable youth baseball and softball experience,"its website proclaims.

Baseball and Softball will play games near downtown Minooka on the grounds of Minooka Elementary School and the Primary Center. Softball plays games at Cene's Four Seasons Park on Seil Road in Shorewood.

There is also the Channahon Youth Baseball League in Channahon and affiliated with Pony Baseball. According to its website, the Channahon Youth Baseball League has roots tracking back to its establishment in 1958, "fostering athletic skills, character development and good citizenship among local children within the game of baseball."

The Channahon Pony Baseball Fields are located at 24920 S. Sage St. in Channahon, just behind Pioneer Path School.

The Channahon Park District also offers a Youth Spring League for children playing soccer and all games will be played at Central Park.


Adult Leagues & Recreational Sports

Adults looking to stay active can also find opportunities to play and connect through local leagues and recreation programs.

The Channahon Park District offers a wide variety of events and activities for people 55 years old and older seeking to stay healthy and active. Some of the events include: Senior Birding Adventures, Backyard BBQ and Bingo for Seniors, Basic Self-Defense for Seniors, Golden Brush Art Studio, Senior Cooking Classes, Wake Up and Walk in the Summer, Sunset Walk and a whole lot more.


Parks, Recreation & Community Programs

Local parks departments and community organizations often offer seasonal leagues, classes and recreation programs for residents of all ages.

The Will County Forest Preserve District has numerous scheduled in Channahon at the McKinley Woods Forest Preserve and at and the Four Rivers Environmental Events Center in Channahon along the Illinois and Michigan Canal. People can also go for walks or go fishing at the Lake Chaminwood Forest Preserve Preserve along West Shepley Road in rural Minooka.

As for Minooka, the village of Minooka notes that Veterans Parks is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All other Village parks are open sunrise to sunset. There are five community parks within the village of Minooka:
