Temporary Lane Closures on Outbound I-55 Near Channahon

The closures are necessary to repair a hole in the bridge deck. The repairs are expected to be completed late Monday evening.

CHANNAHON — Temporary lane closures are underway on outbound Interstate 55, over the BNSF Railroad, near Channahon, according to a news release from the Illinois Department of Transportation. The closure are necessary to repair a hole in the bridge deck.

In order to complete the repairs, a closure is in place for the right lane of outbound Interstate 55, over the BNSF Railroad, eight miles south of Interstate 80, according to the release. The repairs are expected to be completed late this evening, weather permitting.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment, the release said.
