Even as the coronavirus pandemic continues to keep most area schools on a remote or partial remote learning schedule, Troy Community School District 30-C teachers and staff are continuing their professional development.

In fact, Troy has record enrollment numbers – 79 participants - in this year’s fall offerings at “Troy 30-C University,” a program offered to staff designed that they may continue to excel in their positions as teachers, teachers’ assistants and other positions.

The programs are virtual this year and live.

“We are offering a variety of online professional learning opportunities,” explained Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Professional Development Dr. Jenna Woodland. “Providing professional development for our staff is something that allows for independent growth, which directly benefits our students in the classroom.”

The six courses offered this fall are Google Certified Level 1, which enables staff to master Google programs they use in the classroom every day; Origo Module Planning, which expands teachers’ knowledge in this mathematics software; Multicultural Book Groups, which is two courses designed to demonstrate how books relating to various cultural viewpoints can be best taught in the classroom; Mindfulness and Self-Care for Educators in the Classroom and Out; and Seesaw, for in-depth understanding of this teacher-student-parent communication program.
