Troy Craughwell receives donations from Enchanted Backpack
Not-for-profit organization supplied school with books, supplies, coats and hats and more
On a recent February morning, students and staff lined up outside Troy Craughwell Elementary School to unload dozens of boxes from two vans filled with academic and school-related supplies and materials, books, games, headphones and ear buds, prizes, coats, hats and personal hygiene items donated to their school by the not-for-profit organization, Enchanted Backpack.
Troy Craughwell Social Worker Lauren Herrera said the school was delighted to receive the donations.
“Our students and staff are so incredibly thankful for the generous donations from Enchanted Backpack,” Herrera said. “As we know, the Covid pandemic has caused a lot of families to struggle with making ends meet. These donations will help alleviate some of this worry by providing clothing, school supplies and personal hygiene items to our students and families. It will also provide our teachers with some of the necessary tools for supporting our students within the classroom.”
Herrera worked with fellow Craughwell Social Worker Alyson Capriotti, Craughwell Principal Maggie Lopez, Troy Coordinator of Student and Family Services Marc Solodky, Enchanted Backpack representatives and others to apply for the local grant program.
Troy Craughwell Elementary School is a Troy Community School District 30-C school.
