Troy Middle School Student's Mom Suing School and District Over Son's Leg Injury

The youth suffered a "large laceration to his leg" during gym class, according to the lawsuit.

A Troy Middle School student suffered a “large laceration to his leg” during a gym class basketball game, according to a lawsuit filed in Will County court.

Flora Arriaga, the mother of Ulysses Arriaga, sued the school and Troy School District.

Ulysses was playing basketball during gym class in June 2011 when he “came into contact with (an) exposed audio outlet cover,” the lawsuit said.

School or district staff “failed to remove (the) audio outlet cover after it’s intended use,” according to the lawsuit, which called the cover a “hazard to the students.”
