Troy S.L.A.M. Club Packs Meals For "Feed My Starving Children"

Students packed 36,936 meals in one session

Troy Middle School students this year participated in the not-for-profit “Feed my Starving Children” project, which packs and ships nutritious meals designed to assist in reversing and preventing undernutrition in developing countries.

In a packing session at the organization’s Aurora facility, the students packed 171 boxes, for a total of 36,936 meals.

Sponsors of the club are Staci Dahlberg, Kelly Papesh and Sandy Smith.

“We are happy to have been able to contribute to such a great cause,” Papesh said.

The Troy Middle School S.L.A.M. Club (Student Leadership and Mentoring) teaches students the importance of community service through participation in projects that directly benefit not-for-profit organizations. The club also promotes leadership and school spirit.

S.L.A.M. members who participated in the project were Kendall Adelmann, Eva Beck, Madilyn Lulu Bright, Danny Carpenter, Myah Cronch, Bella Cyrkiel, Aubrey DiGiovine, Payton Fraser, Shelby Fraser, Yasmin Hernandez, Makayla Jones, Caiden Koerner, Natalie Lopez, Aubrey Lynch, Mia Moreno, Saniya Newman, Lucy Offermann, Liliana Perez-Macias, Sophia Phetchamphone, Gabby Piazza, Sydney Piazza, Ella Randich, Tomasita Resendes, Isabelle Serno, Aaron Sprindys, Riley Streit, Shradha Verma and Ryerson Walsh.

Troy Middle School is a Troy Community School District 30-C school.
