Village Of Channahon To Launch Manhole Rehabilitation Project This Month

Visu-Sewer and Performance Construction will be working on select manholes across town throughout August.

Within the next few weeks, Visu-Sewer and Performance Construction will be working on select manholes across town. These manholes are owned by the Village of Channahon. This work will be performed Monday through Friday, for approximately the next month. The work hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We are hoping to have this project completed by Labor Day.

This work will not hinder your ability to use the sewers. You will be able to utilize large volumes of water, such as doing laundry, dishwashing, flushing toilets and bathing. You may be affected by the excavation and/or restoration work involving the manhole covers. Access to certain roads and/or driveways may also affect you. This will be temporary, and we will try to keep this to a minimum.

This project will only involve the sanitary sewers manholes. While there is no odor to anything that we are doing, it is a good time to remind residents that you should pour a gallon of water into sinks, floor drains, or other drainage openings, especially those that are seldom used and whose traps may be empty of water. Doing this will prevent any potential odors from entering your building or home. If you do detect an odor, simply open your windows, and/or turn on a fan to help ventilate the building.
