Village of Channahon Updates Signage Policy for Local Businesses

Businesses can now use temporary signs to indicate they are open or available for curbside pickup.

Effective immediately:

All restrictions, prohibitions, and permitting of temporary signs are hereby suspended for any business that operates a physical location/storefront in the Village of Channahon. The executive orders issued by the Governor of Illinois have impacted the typical operations of many, including restaurants and other businesses that have now adopted curbside pickup and delivery.

Examples include signs that: identify that the business is open, designates curbside pickup locations, and lists hours of operations. This does not apply to the advertising of real estate or homes for sale.

It is the responsibility of the business owner to ensure that any sign displayed is done so in a safe way, which does not block neighboring businesses or obstruct the vision of drivers. If a sign poses a hazard, it may be removed by Village staff.

This will be in effect until such time as the Village deems appropriate or restrictions on business operations are lifted by the Governor of Illinois.
