MORRIS, IL — On Sunday, Grundy County Coroner John W. Callahan’s Office released the identity of the woman killed by a Morris police shooting on Friday morning.

The woman has been identified as Alivia A. Schwab, 40, of Morris. Schwab was pronounced dead 11:23 a.m. at the scene on Friday. An autopsy was performed on Sunday morning, and preliminary findings indicate that Schwab died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The death remains under investigation by Callahan’s office, as well as Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation and Illinois State Police Division of Forensic Services. On Friday, Patch reported that the Morris police fatally shot a person they described as "distraught and armed" in the parking lot of a Morris apartment complex.

According to the Alivia Schwab GoFundMe, "We have confirmed she had a knife and was ultimately shot by a police officer. We received word from the coroner that she was shot 3 times, once in the face and twice in the abdomen and died immediately."

"It is known at this time prior to Alivia's final moments that she reached out to the suicide hotline for help in the state of mind she was in. Alivia was working with different medical programs and facilities to lead her on a maintainable and enjoyable life with her children."

The GoFundMe noted that "Alivia did not have any life insurance or means to pay for a funeral service. We are asking for support in helping her get the final resting services she deserves, in addition to financial support for the children to seek different counselors that cater to their special needs to help get through this difficult time."
