1 Dead, 3 Wounded In Shooting Outside River North Nightclub: Police

A group was in the midst of a physical altercation when two males started shooting, hitting four people, according to police.

CHICAGO, IL — A man was shot and killed during a fight outside a River North nightclub early Sunday, according to police.

The incident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. near Hush Chicago in the 300 block of West Chicago Avenue, police said. A group was in the midst of a physical altercation when two males started shooting, hitting four people, including a 30-year-old man who was struck in the chest and pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to police.

The other victims included a man and woman, both 24, who were each shot in the leg, police said, as well as a 30-year-old man who was identified by WLS as a security guard who returned fire. All three surviving victims were in good condition after receiving treatment at Northwestern, according to police.

Two weapons were recovered and one person was taken into custody, police said.

The group involved in the incident had been ejected from the club before shots rang out, according to WLS, which spoke to a concerned neighbor of the business.

"We did see the victim on the ground here when we looked out from our unit,” Gregory Clouthier, whose young family lives in the area, told WLS. “So yeah, it's scary having a family, having a 10-month-old daughter. It's nerve-wracking knowing that kind of stuff goes on in your neighborhood.”
