Father's Day, parish carnivals, classical music and craft beer highlight this weekend in Chicagoland.

CHICAGO, IL — A diverse lineup of fun events are planned in Chicagoland this weekend. Everything from parish carnivals, classical music, craft beer and female comics will take center stage in the region this weekend. Let’s take a look at what’s on tap for a prime weekend in June.
The Chicago Women’s Funny Festival goes from Thursday through Sunday at Stage 773, often called the comedy hub of Chicago, at 1225 W. Belmont in Chicago.
It’s still the busiest time of the year for parish carnivals. The one at Most Holy Redeemer in Evergreen Park is sure to bring a lot of fun from Wednesday through Sunday.

Back by popular demand, St. Nicholas Greek Fest returns to neighboring Oak Lawn. Great music, delicious food and fun for the whole family is planned from Friday through Sunday.
Saturday mornings are always a good time to check out the local farmer’s market events. Here’s a rundown of farmer’s markets taking place this summer throughout the south suburbs.

It’s a hot weekend in the south suburbs, with the village of Alsip celebrating their annual Alsip Fun Fest throughout the day on Saturday.
Saturday will also be a busy day in far south suburban Manhattan, when the Manhattan On Tap Craft Beer Festival will take shape from 6-11 p.m. on Saturday in downtown Manhattan. More than 20 craft beers will be showcased from six local breweries.
Juneteenth Celebrations are also taking place this weekend. One at the Sand Ridge Nature Center in South Holland will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. “During this historical Juneteenth Celebration and Underground Railroad program, attendees can enjoy a variety of activities including interactive interpretive hikes, history and wild edibles displays, traditional music, period recipe samples, crafts and more,” according to a news release from the Forest Preserve District of Cook County.
June is also a time when we begin to see suburbs show off their best local eateries. The Taste of Bolingbrook gets in on the fun for a two-day event on Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday, June 18 is Father’s Day. Neither the White Sox nor Cubs are playing at home this weekend, but you can still take Dad to one of the many parks in the city of Chicago this weekend.
A LOOK AHEAD: NEXT WEEKEND
Classical music will round out the weekend on Sunday morning in Oak Park. Guests are invited to join Romanian virtuoso violinist Daniela Bisenius and keyboardist Don Stille to hear works by jazz and classical masters including Django Reinhardt, Oscar Peterson, Chick Coreea and Astor Piazolla at the Open Door Theater at 902 S. Ridgeland Ave. in Oak Park. at 10:30 a.m.
