100 Club of Illinois Brings Together First Responders for Frontline Convention and Wellness Awards
Conference Provides Illinois First Responders With Tools to Boost Wellness, Resilience, and Readiness

The 100 Club of Illinois hosted its fourth annual Frontline Convention on March 2–3, at the Hilton Chicago Oak Brook bringing together nearly 700 first responders, wellness professionals, and support personnel from across the state. The two-day event featured keynote presentations, breakout workshops, networking opportunities, and hands-on resources designed to enhance physical, mental, emotional, and operational wellness for first responders and their agencies.
The conference featured sessions on resilience development, mental health, suicide prevention, peer support, tactical and physical fitness, leadership, financial wellness, and department culture. Attendees also connected with a curated network of wellness providers, and Therapy K9s were on site throughout the event, offering comfort and support.
Keynote speakers included Stephen James, who shared research on stress and performance in high-stakes environments, and Chris Prochut, who addressed mental health awareness and suicide prevention strategies for law enforcement.

The Frontline Wellness Awards were also presented, honoring leaders who exemplify “strength behind the badge” through their commitment to first responder wellness:
- Individual Wellness Award: Master Sergeant Matthew Renderman of the Illinois State Police, recognized for his leadership on the Peer Support team and efforts promoting fitness, camaraderie, and access to wellness resources, including the “Survival of the Fittest” competition.
- Department Wellness Award: West Suburban Fire Rescue Alliance (WSFRA) Training Committee, honored for delivering Rapid Intervention Team training and practical exercises that enhanced operational readiness and resilience, directly impacting positive outcomes during live incidents.
“The Frontline Convention reinforces that first responder wellness is essential for safe and well first responders and the communities they serve,” said Caitlyn Brennan, CEO of the 100 Club of Illinois. “It’s incredibly exciting to see this event grow each year, from 175 participants at our first convention to nearly 700 this year, because it shows the dedication of the first responder community to their own wellness. We are proud to recognize those who lead with compassion, courage, and action, creating cultures of support, resilience, and hope within their departments and across our state.”
