The volunteers will fan out to work on designated homes throughout the day. They aim to have cosmetic work completed by 1:00 p.m. and plumbing or electrical work to be finished in the mid-afternoon.

Rebuilding Together, funded by donations from large corporations, small businesses, and public and private nonprofit organizations, each year harnesses its army of volunteers for its “National Rebuilding Day,” the last Saturday in April, to improve the homes and communities where residents meet the program guidelines.

“Having Chicago Heights adopted by Rebuilding Together as a beneficiary of its generosity from its donors and volunteers is deeply appreciated by our residents,” said Gonzalez. “Personally, I want to thank Rebuilding Together and its volunteers for their contribution to help repair the homes of some members of our community.”

Since 1991, Rebuilding Together has repaired over 1,900 homes and 275 nonprofit facilities.

To spotlight one of the Chicago Heights homeowners who will benefit from the National Rebuilding Day project, Gonzalez and Preckwinkle will hold a press conference at the residence, 359 Concord Drive, at 1:00 p.m.
