2 Officers Hurt After Street Fight In Gold Coast Over World Cup Game: Chicago Police

Five people were being questioned by detectives after the fight, according to police.

CHICAGO, IL — A street fight Saturday in the Gold Coast left two officers injured and five people subject to questioning, according to police.

The incident occurred about 5:45 p.m. in the zero block of West Division Street, when officers responded to a disturbance, police said. Two officers suffered facial injuries and one was taken to a hospital to be treated for bruising and abrasions, according to police, who said detectives were questioning five people in connection with the fight.

Area bar Gold Coast Social had held a watch party when Mexico played Argentina in the World Cup and a conflict arose after Mexico lost, WGN reported, adding the owner of the business said the bar would be closed for the rest of Saturday.
