2 White Sox Players Test Positive For COVID-19
The two players are isolating themselves in Chicago and will receive follow-up testing before they are allowed to return to play.

CHICAGO, IL — Two White Sox players have tested positive for COVID-19, White Sox officials announced Sunday. Both players are asymptomatic, are isolating themselves in Chicago and are being monitored by White Sox medical staff, according to a news release from the Chicago White Sox.
The players have requested their privacy be respected and both will receive follow-up testing in the coming days. Contract tracing is being conducted and the players will be able to return to activities once they have recorded consecutive negative tests, according to the statement from the White Sox.
On Saturday, White Sox manager Rick Renteria said they've been "consistent" in the messaging they've shared with players in terms of health safety and protocol.

“We've talked to our players in terms of being mindful as to what they're doing away from the ballpark; what they're exposing themselves to,” Renteria said during Saturday’s Zoom call. “The protocol is to try to mitigate, obviously, infection. It'd be truly foolish for me to say that it won't happen, but we're going to try and help it not happen. And that's all we can do.”
The players tested positive for the virus as part of the Major League Baseball’s return to play health protocols where players, staff and front office members receive regular COVID-19 testing.
