2017 James Beard Award Nominees Revealed

Outstanding chefs, restaurants and others nominated for top culinary awards to be held in Chicago in May.

CHICAGO, IL — Nominees for the "Oscars of the food world" have just been announced.

Organizers of the 2017 James Beard Awards announced the full list of nominees in Los Angeles Wednesday. The Beard Awards recognize outstanding restaurants, chefs and those creating food-focused media. For the third year in a row, Chicago will host the award ceremony.

Among local nominees for nationwide culinary honors, Rick Bayless's Topolobampo was nominated for Best Restaurant, Jenner Tomaska of Next was nominated for Rising Star Chef, Greg Wade of Publican Quality Bread was nominated for Outstanding Baker and Boka Restaurant Group was nominated for Outstanding Restaurateur.

The award gala honoring chefs, restaurants and design will be hosted by Jesse Tyler Ferguson and held at Chicago's Lyric Opera on Monday, May 1. The media awards will take place in New York City at Pier Sixty on Tuesday, April 25 and be hosted by Andrew Zimmern.
