21-Year-Old Found Dead In Cart After Missing For Months

"My family spent days and nights looking for her," said Rosa Chacon's sister, who described Chacon as "a ray of sunshine."

CHICAGO, IL — A family is searching for answers after a 21-year-old woman got into an Uber and disappeared for months until she was found last week dead inside a cart, according to reports.

Rosa Chacon was last seen the night of Jan. 18 at her home in the 2800 block of South St. Louis Avenue, reports said, until her body was recently discovered.

“My family spent days and nights looking for her all throughout the city of Chicago,” Chacon’s sister, Elizabeth Bello, wrote on a GoFundMe to raise money for Chacon’s funeral.

The family reported she was missing to police, but told WLS that authorities did little to assist. Relatives instead turned to a private detective agency.

Chicago police reported finding a body the morning of March 15 in the 2300 block of West 24th Place. It was Chacon, inside a shopping or laundry cart in an alley, according to reports.

Her family gathered recently, on what would have been her 22nd birthday, to remember her, WGN reported.

“My sister was spunky and full of life,” Bello wrote on the GoFundMe. “She was one to always make us laugh and smile. She was truly a ray of sunshine.”

Police are investigating, according to WLS, which reported a $15,000 reward is being offered by the local community for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
