The 25 Best School Districts In Illinois For 2017: Report

Many suburban parents put a lot of stock into which local school districts are the “best” for their child.

With that in mind, Niche.com, a website dedicated to analyzing data to provide information on the best neighborhoods and schools, releases a list each year of the best school districts in the country and state. The site’s 2017 best schools lists came out in recent months and has ranked Community High School District No. 128 in Vernon Hills as the best of the best among school districts in Illinois. The high school district includes Libertyville High School and Vernon Hills High School.

“I love D128, the schools are highly ranked with great teachers and lots of opportunity for students,” a senior with District 128 wrote on the Niche.com website. “There are lots of clubs and activities to join, as well as rigorous coursework to prepare students for college.”

Other top school districts in the state, according to Niche.com, are New Trier Township High School District No. 203 in Northfield, ranked at No. 2 in the state; and Barrington Community Unit School District No. 220 in Barrington, ranked at No. 3 in the state.

Niche.com uses a variety of factors, including state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, teacher quality, public school district ratings and more.
