-25 Wind Chill Possible, Coldest Temps This Winter In Chicago

A wind chill advisory has been issued for the Chicago area starting at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

ILLINOIS — Wind chills were as low as minus 10 at O'Hare and minus 7 at Midway on Tuesday morning, and the deep freeze will stick around through Wednesday morning as the coldest temperatures so far this winter are expected, according to the National Weather Service.

A wind chill advisory has been issued for Lake, La Salle, DuPage, Kendall, Grundy, Kankakee, Cook and Will counties from 8 p.m. Tuesday through noon Wednesday, according to the weather service. Wind chills as low as minus 25 are expected during this time, the weather service said.

At those temperatures, frostbite is possible within 30 minutes, the weather service said.

The low temperature for Tuesday night is forecast at minus 17, and wind chills as low as minus 30 are expected for some areas in northern Illinois. Wind chills are expected to be around minus 25 for Joliet, Elgin and Waukegan, and minus 20 for Chicago and Kankakee.

Temperatures will moderate on Thursday, which has a high of 33 degrees, but there is a chance of snow ahead of another cold front, according to the weather service. Colder temperatures will return again Friday, which has a high of 23 and a low of minus 5 on Friday night.
