3 Cicero Walgreens Drop $6K Mask Fine Challenge, Avoid Hearing
Managers from the 3 locations agreed to pay for 8 $750 face-covering violations and have dropped their scheduled appeal with town officials.

CHICAGO, IL – Three Cicero Walgreens stores have avoided a hearing in the town’s administrative court Wednesday after paying $6,000 in fines for violating Cicero’s executive order requiring store employees and customers to wear face-coverings while inside the store.
A town spokesman confirmed Wednesday that the management of the three Walgreens locations had paid eight $750 citations that issued at the stores since an executive order was issued by Town President Larry Dominick on April 15.
On Monday, town officials announced that legal counsel representing the store managers would appear at a hearing Wednesday to challenge the fines. The executive order, which was issued by Dominick effect April 15, states that retailer managers must, at their own expense, provide face-coverings for all employees working in the establishment. Retailers were also told that they must deny entry to any customer that attempts to enter the store without wearing a mask or face-covering.

According to town officials, citations are issued when police are called to retail locations after receiving complaints of customers or employees not wearing masks. After verifying the complaint, citations are ordered. The spokesman said in an email Wednesday that the executive order will continue to be enforced and complaints will continue to be enforced.
Walgreens has locations at 4800 W. Cermak Rd., 5840 W. 35th St. and 5932 W. Cermak in Cicero.
