3 Die After 2 House Fires In Chicago: Authorities
A 73-year-old man and two adult women are dead after fires in Logan Square and West Englewood, according to the fire department.

CHICAGO, IL — Three people died in connection with two house fires Tuesday in Chicago, according to authorities.
A 73-year-old man is dead after a blaze early Tuesday in the 1800 block of North Sawyer Avenue in Logan Square, authorities said, noting the incident left a firefighter injured.
The firefighter was taken to Stroger Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, according to the Chicago Fire Department. WLS characterized the residence as “a hoarding situation” and reported that “stacks and stacks of items were piled up inside the home.”

Also Tuesday, the fire department tweeted that two women had died in connection with a blaze in the 7200 block of South Wolcott Avenue in West Englewood.
Firefighters distributed smoke detectors and safety literature Wednesday in both neighborhoods.

“Please check your smoke and CO detectors to ensure they are functioning properly,” the department tweeted, later adding, “Please be mindful of space heaters & using alternative heating sources.”
