4 Stabbed On CTA Train When Robbery Victim Fights Back: Chicago Police
Six people followed him onto a train car and tried to rob him at knifepoint, but the victim had a knife too, according to Chicago police.
CHICAGO, IL — A victim and several of his attackers were injured when six people attempted to rob a man at knifepoint on a CTA train and the man fought back, according to police.
The incident occurred about 2 a.m. Friday, after a 42-year-old man switched train cars on the Red Line in the 1500 block of North Clybourn Avenue, police said. Six people followed him and tried to rob him, attacking him with a knife and broken glass bottle, according to police, who said the victim took out a knife himself.
The man suffered several stab wounds and lacerations and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, police said. All six offenders were taken into custody, but three were also injured, according to police.

A 52-year-old man was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition with a stab wound to the neck, a 36-year-old was brought to Stroger in fair condition with lacerations to the forearm and a 24-year-old was stabbed in the back and taken to Northwestern, where his condition was stabilized, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
CTA President Dorval R. Carter Jr. issued a statement Friday about the attack.

"This kind of violence is absolutely unacceptable, and we applaud the Chicago Police Department for its quick actions to arrest the suspects," he said. "CTA will continue to assist CPD in its investigation, including sharing any video from our security camera system."
