5 Chicago Restaurants Make It On Top 100 In Country List

OpenTable has ranked five Chicago restaurants among the top eateries in the country for a big night out.

CHICAGO, IL — OpenTable has released its list of 100 Best Restaurants in America for a Big Night Out. Five Chicago restaurants were named on the list, including Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse and Maple & Ash in the Near North, as well as Carnivale, Duck Duck Goat and Girl & the Goat in the West Loop. The top 100 list is generated from more than 12 million verified OpenTable reviews, the company said.

"The list features an array of buzzworthy restaurants, from up-and-coming to established, trendy to tried-and-true, across 24 states and Washington D.C.," Caroline Potter, chief dining officer at OpenTable, said in a press release. "Whatever your notion of a big night out entails, whether it's a bustling bar scene or a spot to see-and-be-seen, fun is on the menu at any of these honorees."

Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse - when does Gibson's not make the cut? This Chicago staple is named in many top eatery lists, and continues to garner top reviews from its patrons, thanks to its efficient and friendly service and the high-quality ingredients it uses in its dishes, according to OpenTable.

Maple & Ash - Chicago loves its steak houses! OpenTable called this restaurant an "innovative take on the traditional steakhouse," and praised its mix of a "modern aesthetic with authentic service to deliver classic wood-fired dishes." Having two-star Michelin chef Danny Grant helming the restaurant's menu doesn't hurt, either.

Carnivale - opening its doors in 2005, the restaurant is known for its festive atmosphere and unique Latin-inspired dishes. OpenTable calls the restaurant "exotic, energetic and global," and praises its range of drinks as well as its many options for private parties — the eatery offers seven private rooms for events.

Duck Duck Goat - the restaurant is a new Chinese eatery from Chef Stephanie Izard of Girl & the Goat. Patrons on OpenTable praise the restaurant's warm and elegant decor, its service, and menu items such as its duck fried rice, short rib, potstickers and pork belly.

Girl & the Goat - another Chicago classic — the restaurant opened in 2010 and has been talked about as a 'must-have' dining experience in the city ever since. OpenTable said the restaurant's menu is filled with "tasty, bold flavored foods" and called its atmosphere is "fun and lively."

Chicago came in close behind New York and Las Vegas for most restaurants included on the top 100 list.
