CHICAGO, IL — Investigators are offering an up-to-$50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a man who robbed one letter carrier and attempted to rob another, authorities said Thursday. The man was armed during both incidents, each of which occurred in Chicago, according to authorities.
The robbery happened about 2 p.m. Jan. 31 around the 1700 block of North New England Avenue, while the attempted robbery occurred just a few blocks away at approximately 1 p.m. Jan. 17 in the vicinity of the 1700 block of North Sayre Avenue, according to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
The suspect, who should be considered armed and dangerous, was described by authorities as a Black man with a dark brown complexion who stands between 5 feet, 10 inches, and 6 feet tall, and who weighs 160-180 pounds. He was wearing thick black glasses, a dark puffy jacket, a gray hooded sweatshirt, black slippers, and black or black and red pajama pants, according to investigators.
