8 Chicago Bars and Restaurants Open on Christmas Day

Make your holiday more merry and bright by treating yourself with the gift of these open bars and restaurants in Chicago

‘Tis the season of all things jolly and bright. For those looking to escape the holiday weekend madness, many fine Chicago establishments are preparing to serve up a glass of cheer. Naughty or nice, Chicagoans can rejoice with this list of restaurant and bar options open during the holiday.

Bucktown / Wicker Park:
Easy Bar- Festive staycationers can enjoy $6 signature cocktails, a $4 select draft can and free pool on Christmas Day at Easy Bar. The casual neighborhood bar will open at 8 p.m. with holiday cocktail options like the Zamboni with Banhez mezcal, Amaro Nonino, Campari, chocolate bitters.

Remedy- For those looking to escape the family festivities, the Bucktown joint will be open late on Christmas Day from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. offering a Miller High Life bottle and Evan Williams shot combo for only $8.

Lakeview/Wrigleyville:
8 Crazy Nights- Graystone Tavern’s Hanukkah pop-up will spread holiday cheer with $7 to $15 food and drink specials on Christmas Eve and Day from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Guests can enjoy a Hanukkah Happy Hour from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in which a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Anshe Emet Young Adult Division, a local Jewish community group.

Elf’d Up- With staff adorned in elf attire and jamming to holiday mashups, the “Elf” themed pop-up will serve up $12 themed specialty cocktails such as the Yule Mule and the Ninny Muggins. Patrons who share an affinity for elf culture can celebrate with ginormous Elf Boots featuring 36-ounces of rotating seasonal drafts will be available for $10 to $18 each.

Lincoln Park:
aliveOne- Open at 8 p.m. on Christmas Day, guests can enjoy a holiday nightcap with half-price aliveOne signature cocktails and $5 Half Acre brews. Seasonal cocktails for a festive night include the Tones of Home (Tanqueray, apple cider, lemon juice, honey syrup, Peychuad’s bitters, cinnamon), Hot Water Music (Crown Royal, tea, lemon juice, honey syrup), and Copernicus (Crown Royal, Pimms, lemon juice, demerara, ginger beer).

River North:
Hubbard Inn- At the newly revamped and reopened River North hotspot, guests can treat themselves to a luxe holiday happy hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. featuring $1 East and West coast oysters (minimum of 6), $6 glasses of select wine, $6 classic Old Fashioned cocktails, and $10 select menu items including Beef Tartare, Pear and Brie, Chicken Skewer, Napa Ceasar and Octopus Tostada. Additionally, $1 from select items including Octopus Tostada, Chicken Skewer, Napa Caesar and more sold in December will benefit No Kid Hungry, working to end childhood hunger.

Mastro’s- Visitors and locals in town during the holiday can indulge at the steakhouse on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with a delicious dessert in a glass called the Holiday Cheer, available for $22. The festive drink mixes Tito’s Vodka, Kerrigold Irish Cream, Kahlua, and Licor 43 in a martini glass with a cinnamon, sugar, and graham cracker rim which can be paired Mastro's signature Chateaubriand. The $115 dish features a large center-cut roasted beef tenderloin, sliced and served tableside with béarnaise and peppercorn sauce on the side.

Morton’sMorton's- Offering season’s tidings, the steakhouse will be open on Christmas Eve from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Christmas Day from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at their Chicago, Naperville, Northbrook, Rosemont and Schaumburg locations. Holiday diners can enjoy a Steak and Lobster Special for $59 along with a $17 festive cocktail with Ketel One Botanical Cucumber Rosé Vodka, Aperol Aperitif, simple syrup, and lemon juice, topped with hand shaken whipped cream and an edible rose petal garnish.
