15-Year-Old Girls Batter Police, Injuring 2 Officers: Authorities

The girls were placed into custody, police said.

CHICAGO — Two Cook County sheriff’s officers were battered and injured by a pair of 15-year-old girls on Wednesday evening in Chicago, according to police.

Chicago officers assisted sheriff’s police, who had responded to gunshots, around 4:40 p.m. in the 6400 block of South Evans Avenue, authorities said. Seeing a physical altercation between multiple people, the sheriff’s police tried to intervene and the two girls battered them, according to authorities.

The girls were placed into custody, Chicago police said. One of the sheriff’s officers suffered facial bruising and was taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition, according to police, while the second officer suffered a bruised hip but declined medical attention.
