PITTSBURGH, PA — Authorities found no threat after a United Airlines flight bound for New York City was diverted to Pittsburgh International Airport on Saturday due to a reported security concern.
The Allegheny County Police Department in Pennsylvania confirmed the agency's bomb squad was called to assist with the investigation after flight 2092 landed at the airport shortly after 10:45 a.m.
The plane had departed Chicago O'Hare International Airport and was en route to LaGuardia International Airport in New York City when it made the emergency landing, a United Airlines spokesperson told Patch.
According to the airline, the plane was carrying 159 passengers and six crew members. Upon landing, passengers were evacuated from the plane via slides.
Allegheny County police and K9s conducted a sweep of the aircraft, passengers and luggage; however, authorities did not find a credible threat. The incident has since been cleared.
No injuries were reported. The Allegheny County Airport Authority said the airport remains open and operational.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
