CHICAGO, IL — A 45-year-old man has been charged in connection with a sexual assault that happened in a Cook County forest preserve over Memorial Day weekend.
John G. Lang was arrested and now faces aggravated criminal sexual assault and aggravated battery with strangulation charges for accusations he attacked a 29-year-old woman on May 23, Fox 23 is reporting.
The assault happened at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday in an off-trail, heavily wooded area on the eastern side of LaBagh Woods, about 500 feet from the parking lot, according to the Forest Preserve District of Cook County.
The woman was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital and has since been released, according to media reports.
On Tuesday, the Forest Preserve District of Cook County released a sketch of the suspect, who was described as being 6 feet tall with a long brown-and-blond beard reaching his chest, officials said. He was wearing a dark shirt, black beanie, dark sunglasses and a zip-up black jacket with a red stripe on the shoulder, according to authorities.
Authorities said Lang is being held without bail, according to WGN TV.
