Coyote Reportedly Causes Go-Arounds At O'Hare

CHICAGO — Multiple flights reportedly had to go around at O'Hare International Airport Tuesday morning because of a coyote on a runway.

The aviation-tracking account Flight Emergency reported at around 7:30 a.m. that multiple flights were going around at Chicago because of a coyote on the runway. The post included a flight-tracking image showing aircraft near O'Hare.

The Federal Aviation Administration's O'Hare status page shows minor gate-hold and taxi delays of 15 minutes or less Tuesday morning, with no destination-specific delays listed.

Coyotes have caused trouble at O'Hare before. In January 2025, a United Airlines flight bound for Phoenix returned to O'Hare after striking a coyote during takeoff, according to The Associated Press. No injuries were reported.
