CHICAGO — A man was killed in a shooting that left 13 other victims injured late Saturday on Chicago's South Side, according to police.
Officers were at a gathering around 11:30 p.m. to disperse a crowd in the 5400 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when an unknown offender or unknown offenders started firing shots at the crowd, striking several victims, police said.
A 35-year-old man, who WLS reported was named Rontonio M. Guterz, was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago hospital, according to police.
A 47-year-old woman was in serious condition and three other women — aged 23, 43 and 21 — were in fair condition, with all four requiring care at hospitals, police said.
Six other victims — three men ages 34, 39 and 42 and three women ages 40, 45 and 26 — were in good condition but received medical attention at hospitals, according to police.
Another three victims — a 37-year-old woman, a 23-year-old man and a 35-year-old man — were in unknown condition, police said.
Detectives are investigating, according to police.
