HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Highland Park will hold its September 11, 25th Anniversary Observance at 9 a.m. at Bennett Gordon Hall at Ravinia Festival.
The program is planned to remember those who were killed and injured in the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and to honor those who responded to the call for aid, with special recognition for first responders from Highland Park and Highwood.
The Highland Park Fire Department will lead the Last Alarm Bell Ceremony as part of the observance. The program will also include remarks by Mayor Nancy Rotering, Chief of Police Lou Jogmen, Fire Chief Joe Schrage and Deputy Fire Chief Bill Brennan, who provided mutual aid in New York City, according to the city.
The event will be presented by the City of Highland Park in partnership with Ravinia Festival, North Shore School District 112, Township High School District 113, the Highland Park Public Library, the Park District of Highland Park and the Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association.
The city said the ceremony will be livestreamed for those who cannot attend in person. It will also remain available for viewing after the event on the city's YouTube channel.
