Today's riddle: Where do math teachers go on vacation? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Cardinal Cupich, Nuns' Lawsuit Claims New IL Right-To-Die Law Is A 'Ticket Punch' For A Patient's Death (patch.com) — Chicago's Cardinal Blase Cupich and two Catholic religious orders are suing Illinois over a new right-to-die law they say forces them to participate in assisted suicide against their faith. The lawsuit, filed before the End-of-Life Options for Terminally Ill Patients Act takes effect Sept. 12, argues Catholic hospitals, elder-care homes, and a pharmacist could face penalties if they refuse to inform patients about or facilitate access to life-ending medication.
2. Robberies reported in 17th (Albany Park) District; last month's shootout involving CTA security, 3 assailants in Jefferson Park remains under investigation (nadignewspapers.com) — Several recent robberies in Albany Park and along Irving Park, Lawrence, Kedzie and Montrose highlight rising safety concerns for Northwest Side residents, including a carjacked delivery driver and an elderly woman robbed outside a bank. Police also say last month's shootout between a CTA security guard and three people at the Jefferson Park Transit Center remains under investigation, with one suspect released pending possible charges.
3. Ye Reunites With Big Sean and Brings Out 2 Chainz, Future and More at Homecoming Show in Chicago (kffm.com) — Ye's first of two sold-out hometown shows at Soldier Field brought a surprise onstage reunion with Big Sean plus appearances from 2 Chainz, Future and Chicago's own Twista. Fans packed the stadium Thursday night for a two-hour career-spanning set, marking Ye's first performance back in the city since his 2021 Donda listening event and signaling a public mending of past feuds.
4. White Sox ride trio of homers to victory over Twins (statenews.net) — The Chicago White Sox powered past the Minnesota Twins 4–1 Friday night behind home runs from Miguel Vargas, Braden Montgomery and Colson Montgomery. Erick Fedde tossed five scoreless innings as Chicago strengthened its AL Central lead, with both Montgomerys reaching the 30-homer mark and the Sox snapping a brief two-game skid heading into the rest of the home series.
